The year was 1968 when the shop Munkvalvet opened in Visby. The name came from the fact that the shop was housed in an old medieval monk's cell. The shop has since moved, but the name lives on, and so does the focus on design and craftsmanship from Gotland.

53 years after the store opened, the monk's vault went through a generational change, the store was renovated and the range was renewed. We are still passionate about the unique Gotland craftsmanship and have a close collaboration with many Gotland creators.

But we have also expanded the range with selected brands that share our ambition around unique design and our values ​​around the environment and sustainability.

Munkvalvet also has a children's department where the focus is on quality and design, where a large part of our products are organic. Of course, only the very best is good for the little ones!
