Alice B Toklas's cookbook is a cookbook like no other. The book is filled with anecdotes and entertaining stories from Alice B Toklas and Gertrude Stein's incomparable life together. The cultural elite of the time gathered at the dinner table and we get to watch as Alice conjures up dishes such as Perch for Picasso, Chicken in Half Sorrow, Giant Pigeon in Pyjamas, Cheese Pancakes from Vienna and Vanilla Cream Joséphine Baker.

With nearly four hundred tasty and fun recipes, this is a real little gem. The foreword to the book is signed by Emma Hamberg.

ALICE B. TOKLAS, actually Alice Babette Toklas (1877 1967), was the life partner and inspiration of the author Gertrude Stein, and belonged to the cultural elite of the time. In addition to the cookbook, Toklas appeared in two autobiographies: Gertrude Stein's The Autobiography of Alice B. Toklas , and Toklas's real autobiography What Is Remembered .

"It should be said right away that this is no ordinary cookbook, it is extraordinary, slightly crazy, eccentric and a completely captivating read." BTJ
